The six major movie studios have joined in a pact to include anti-smoking public service announcements in their DVD releases. Sony, Universal, Warner Bros., Fox, Paramount and Disney will feature these PSAs prior to feature movies rated G, PG and PG-13 that contain scenes which depict smoking. The American Medical Association Alliance has called for an even more stringent policy of giving R ratings to any movie that depicts scenes of “irresponsible or gratuitous tobacco images.” Full story.

We have been indundated with the stop smoking campaigns. I, for one, and for many I hasve discussed this with say

We have become so saturated with stop smoking slogans and campaigns and t-shirts and ball caps and water bottles and
on and on and on… ad infinitum.
Now we get to see a commercial for no smoking on our dvds.
I, for one, rent and purchase dvd’s because 1) I like the movie
and 2) no commercials.
THANKS FOR FOULING MY VIEWING TME WITH YET ANOTHER BATCH OF
COMMERCIALS.
If the viewing public, by now, is unaware of the hazards of smoking they will never be.
